IF ANYONE CAN’T MAKE IT TOMORROW, just email me, (gigishank@gmail.com)  we are just getting to know each other and read through the script. (And brainstorm ideas like how Gretchen is the glamours TV reporter, getting powdered by her make-up crew, and how Nick is the always almost-falling over clumsy Humpty Dumpty, and how we make Ryan look really old and funny etc!) I will work on the final rehearsal schedule and email it out to you.

PIGS: I haven’t decided which Pig is for which Actor yet, I’ll let you know tomorrow.

SPECTATORS: you are going to be either an animal, a Fairy Tale character, a Mother Goose character, or a TV camerman or make-up person. If you have a favorite character you would like to act out, let me know tomorrow.

Thank you all once again, for trying out.

I apologize for this font, but I can't figure out how to change the color, and I figured you would rather see the cast list than have it be pretty.

Casting needs for " The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf"

Reporter

Newscaster

Town Crier

Clerk

3 pigs

The Wolf

Judge

12 Jury members (Fairy Tale and Mother Goose Characters.)

A surprise witness

I am planning on having a spectator section as well, of other Fairy Tale and Mother Goose Characters.

There is a place for all ages.

This is the first play CCP is doing geared to the younger elementary crowd that has been able to attend our plays in recent years. There is no better audience, and I encourage adults to audition, as well as high school students who want to try taking a character and developing that character through improv and physical humor.

We will start rehearsals the week of Sept. 22, usually 3 nights a week. Things get more intense mid-October.

Plan on most Saturdays in October having a rehearsal. Most conflicts can be worked around, and I do encourage every one to try out, and just let me know on the audition form what conflicts they have. You must be available all day Wednesday Oct. 26, 27, with the 28th available as an emergency make-up day if weather causes havoc on the 26th or 27th. You must be available Sat. evening Oct. 29.

Any questions, email me at gigishank@gmail.com

Wed., June 8 rehearsal & other stuff

Wed.'s rehearsal: Yessy is going to go over "The Candy Man" song with Justin & the "schoolchildren" first then "Ooompa Loompa 4" with the Oompa Loompas. Then we are going to do a "walk through". This means we are going to simply walk through the entire musical without doing the songs and choreography so that we can work out entrances & exits, when curtains go up & down, & for Pam Shanks (our Stage Manager) sake; so she can figure out where set pieces and props go where & when. If we have time after that, we will go through Act Two.

Tuesday, June 7 rehearsal

At tonight's rehearsal we will be working on the choreography for "Finale" & "Oompa Loompa Candy Dreams". Everyone needs to be there unless you have been excused. There will be a rehearsal next Thursday. I would also like to know if everyone is available for an additional rehearsal this Friday. Please let me know through email. drama4christ@att.net or cathyvanlopik@att.net. Thank you.

Change to Wed. & Thurs. rehearsal

Rehearsal for "Cheer Up, Charlie" has been cancelled. Tonight instead of going through Act One, we will be working on music and choreography. We will be working on the numbers that include the ful cast, "The Golden Age Of Chocolate", "I've Got A Golden Ticket", & "The Finale". We will also be working on choreographing dances that need to be completed, such as the Cooks Chorus. Nubia will also be working with anyone who wants to work on solos or thier parts in songs. We need everyone there who can be there. The Blacks and any children who have a band commitment are excused. Thursday rehearsal is still "Candy Man" from 6-7 pm which includes the Candy Man, Charlie, & the schoolchildren. During the the 7-9:30 reheasral, we will pick up Act Two where we left off and if we have time will start Act One. Again everyone is needed. Friday there is an added rehearsal for Tommy & Emily for "I See It All On TV" at 7:00 pm. There is no Saturday rehearsal. Instead, we will use the first part of Crazy Sunday to review music & dance, take a supper break, then run through the show. Please remember, from now on we are in the PAC. From now on, no bare feet, flip flops, just socks, or any type of footwear that can easily come off your feet will be allowed on stage. we have been doing set work there & even though we sweep the floor when we are done, I can't guarentee that every screw gets picked up. Also, please don't leave any trash behind. Thank you.

Willy Wonka update

I just had a very productive meeting with Yessy, our choreographer, so I'm a lot closer to a complete schedule. I will be sending this schedule to all of you through your emails. I won't be posting it on this director's blog, because I think it will be too long. So just look for it in your emails. However I won't be sending it to you until later on Sunday because I have a very busy day on Sat. I have song practice with the girls club at our church Sat. morning from 10:00 am til noon; then I go right from there to my daughter, Taryn's tennis match; then I go right from there to my daughter, Lindsay's graduation ceremony at the Van Andel arena; then we're going out to celebrate afterward. Our girl's club is then leading worship at our church Sunday morning, so like I said, I won't be sending out the schedule until later Sunday. This is the schedule for Monday - it's all music. 7-7:30 pm is Oompa Loompas; 7:30-8:30 pm is "Golden Age of Chocolate" which is everyone except the Bucket Family. 8:30-9:30 pm are the Phineous songs - one of these songs, "I've Got a Golden Ticket" includes the "schoolchildren": James, Danny, Matilda, Sophie, Amy, Becky, & Maggie. If you have any questions, it's probably best to call me over the weekend, (616) 822-7563. Thanks, everyone for your patience!

No rehearsal Friday

In case anyone was confused, we do NOT have rehearsal tonight. Have a great weekend!

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Thursday night rehearsal

I will need everyone, except the Oompa Loompas for Thursday night's rehearsal. We begin at 7:00 pm and will go until 9:30 pm. However, the "schoolchildren", James, Danny, Matilda, Becky, Amy, Maggie, & Sophie should be able to leave at 8:00 pm. This rehearsal will be in the Cafetorium (the room we had it Wed. night) again. I'm will do my best to get a correct rehearsal schedule out to everyone through email sometime this weekend. It probably won't be until Sunday, however. again email me or call me if you have questions. Thanks

rehearsals this week

All rehearsals this week will be in the music room at Caledonia Elementary School. (Right across the street from Duncan Lake Middle School) Wednesday night rehearsal is everyone except the Oompa Loompas. I am not going to try to incorporate any Oompa Loompas for this rehearsal. We might not have a rehearsal Thursday night, depending on how Wed. night goes.

Change in Tuesday night's rehearsal

Hi everyone, I forgot to mention at read through that Tuesday night's rehearsal will be in Caledonia Elementary School's music room. Also, i will be sending out a new cast list (apparently I forgot some names on the last cast list I sent out, Sorry!) and a new rehearsal schedule. Either Nubia or I will be also be contacting everyone involved in tonight's rehearsal about the change in location.

Meeting and Read Through

Reminding everyone that we have a meeting and read through on Mon., April 25 @ 7:00 pm. It will be in either rm 301 or rm 302. Parents of cast members ages 16 yrs. old and younger need to stay for at least the meeting at the beginning. This is very important. thanks you

Changes to Willy Wonka Cast

We have a Music Director and a choreographer! Our Music Director is Nubia Gomez and our choreographer is Shannon Kelly. Nubia is studying music and music theater at Aquianas College and has been involved with many CCP musicals. Shannon Kelly is a senior at Caledonia High School and did an independent study of dance under Jeanette Ruthven, our former choreographer. There are also some changes to the cast list because some people declined the parts they were offered. Tommy Langejans is now Mike Teavee, Paul Hamilton III is James, and Ryan Miller is Danny. Read through is Mon., April 25 at 7:00 pm at Duncan Lake Middle School. If I haven't posted the complete rehearsal schedule before then, everyone will get the rehearsal schedule then. (Nubia is getting back to me with her input about the rehearsal schedule.) See everyone on April 25th.

Here's an idea of what kind of parts there are available for Mr. Toad's Mad Adventures, with an idea of the age range. Teen parts can be about 8th grade students up to adults. Child parts can be played by anyone, children on up, AND even adults. I encourage everyone to try-out. If you are only interested in certain parts, there is an audition form on the web site, and at auditions, where you can indicate your preferences. I appreciate everyone who trys out, the more people - the stronger our theater group becomes.

The 4 friends:

Toad: Adult, Shakesperian singer
Mole: Teen, Timid, "follow the rules" animal
Rat: Teen, Adventurer, Boater
Badger: Teen, Wise, slow to anger, but ferocious when needed

Mice: Children, Citizens of the country, cheerful, but afraid of weasels

Housekeeper/Nurse: Teen, Housekeeper for Toad Mansion

Chief Weasel, Teen, the chief bad guy
Weasels: Children. The bad guys.

Other than the above, there are numerous other characters that appear for 1 or 2 lines, and then go off stage. I will be casting and combining these roles.
